Finland & Lapland: A Luxurious Nordic Winter Adventure

OVERVIEW

Embark on an unforgettable journey through Finland, Lapland, and Tallinn with this luxurious Nordic winter adventure. Begin in Helsinki, where elegant city charm meets vibrant culture, then sail across to Tallinn’s enchanting medieval streets dusted with winter’s glow. Escape to the tranquil wilderness of Lapland, where cozy cottages and dreamy glass igloos await. Relax in authentic Finnish saunas, witness the magical Northern Lights from your private igloo, and create lifelong memories at Santa Claus Village. Every moment is carefully curated to blend comfort, exclusivity, and the enchanting spirit of the Arctic.

📍 About Finland & Lapland

Finland is a beautiful Nordic gem, known for its pure nature, stylish cities, and warm hospitality. From Helsinki’s stunning architecture and vibrant culture to the quiet forests and frozen lakes of the north, Finland offers something for every traveler.

Lapland, Finland’s northernmost region, is a true winter wonderland nestled above the Arctic Circle. Renowned for its enchanting snowy landscapes, cozy cabins, glass igloos, and the magical chance to meet Santa Claus, Lapland offers both thrilling adventures and tranquil moments beneath the shimmering Northern Lights.

At the heart of this Arctic paradise lies Rovaniemi, the region’s capital and the official hometown of Santa Claus. This welcoming town is the perfect starting point for unforgettable experiences — from crossing the Arctic Circle and greeting Santa in person to snowmobiling through pristine forests and hunting for the Aurora Borealis beneath star-filled skies.

❄️Best Season to Visit Rovaniemi for Winter Activities : December to March

When winter transforms Lapland into a true wonderland, Rovaniemi comes alive with all its iconic experiences in full swing. From late November to early April, a thick blanket of snow covers the landscape, rivers and lakes freeze solid, and the brief daylight is beautifully complemented by the magical hues of the Polar Night and the dancing Aurora Borealis. During this time, visitors can enjoy the full range of winter activities — from husky and reindeer safaris to snowmobiling, ice fishing, and exploring the enchanting Santa Claus Village — making it the perfect season to experience the Arctic at its best.

Yes — experienced local guides or a tour manager will assist you at each destination for a smooth experience.

The amount of daylight hours changes throughout the winter. Up until late December the days get shorter, and around Christmas time we have a few days when the sun doesn’t rise above the horizon at all. During this period, it is dark, however the snowy surroundings lighten up the atmosphere a lot by reflecting all the light that it can find. If the sky is clear, the moon and the stars will lighten up the snowy surroundings. After Christmas the daylight hours start getting longer again.

The optimal time to see the Northern Lights in Rovaniemi spans from September through March, when the nights are longest and darkest, offering the best conditions for Aurora sightings.

Please note :  While guides use real-time weather forecasts and local knowledge to give you the best chance of seeing the Northern Lights, sightings cannot be guaranteed because they depend on nature. Sometimes, the aurora is too faint to be seen clearly with the naked eye but can still be captured with special camera settings — your guide will help you take beautiful photos even in low activity. Many tours boast up to a 95% success rate, but patience and clear skies are key!

This tour is for adventurous travelers who don’t mind long drives, waiting in the cold, and being patient while chasing the Northern Lights (aurora) — because spotting the aurora often takes time and effort.

This tour is not recommended for:

  • Families with small children
  • Elderly guests
  • Pregnant individuals
  • Anyone with medical conditions, mobility issues, or disabilities

Rovaniemi experiences very cold winters, with temperatures typically ranging between -15°C and -30°C (–5°F to –22°F). Dressing in multiple warm layers is crucial to stay comfortable while spending time outdoors for Northern Lights viewing.

  • No prior experience is needed! Your guide will provide full instructions and safety tips.
  • Drivers must usually hold a valid driver’s license. Children can ride as passengers with an adult.
  • Always follow your guide’s instructions, wear provided helmets and gear, and stay within designated routes.

  • The prime season for husky sledding and reindeer safaris runs from late November to April, when snow blankets the landscape, creating perfect conditions for these traditional Arctic adventures.
  • Arctic icebreaker cruises are also available during the winter months, offering a thrilling way to explore frozen seas and experience the power of these remarkable ships.
