Finland is a captivating blend of modern Nordic culture, pristine nature, and centuries-old traditions. From stylish cities to serene forests and frozen lakes, it’s a paradise for adventure and tranquility alike.
Lapland, Finland’s northernmost region, is a true winter wonderland nestled above the Arctic Circle. Renowned for its enchanting snowy landscapes, cozy cabins, glass igloos, and the magical chance to meet Santa Claus, Lapland offers both thrilling adventures and tranquil moments beneath the shimmering Northern Lights.
At the heart of this Arctic paradise lies Rovaniemi, the region’s capital and the official hometown of Santa Claus. This welcoming town is the perfect starting point for unforgettable experiences — from crossing the Arctic Circle and greeting Santa in person to snowmobiling through pristine forests and hunting for the Aurora Borealis beneath star-filled skies.
Tallinn is the capital city of Estonia, known for its beautiful old town with cobblestone streets, medieval buildings, and charming squares. It’s a mix of history and modern life, where you can explore castles, cozy cafés, and vibrant markets. The city feels like stepping back in time but with a lively, friendly atmosphere today.
When winter transforms Lapland into a true wonderland, Rovaniemi comes alive with all its iconic experiences in full swing. From late November to early April, a thick blanket of snow covers the landscape, rivers and lakes freeze solid, and the brief daylight is beautifully complemented by the magical hues of the Polar Night and the dancing Aurora Borealis. During this time, visitors can enjoy the full range of winter activities — from husky and reindeer safaris to snowmobiling, ice fishing, and exploring the enchanting Santa Claus Village — making it the perfect season to experience the Arctic at its best.

The amount of daylight hours changes throughout the winter. Up until late December the days get shorter, and around Christmas time we have a few days when the sun doesn’t rise above the horizon at all. During this period, it is dark, however the snowy surroundings lighten up the atmosphere a lot by reflecting all the light that it can find. If the sky is clear, the moon and the stars will lighten up the snowy surroundings. After Christmas the daylight hours start getting longer again.
The optimal time to see the Northern Lights in Rovaniemi spans from September through March, when the nights are longest and darkest, offering the best conditions for Aurora sightings.
Please note : While guides use real-time weather forecasts and local knowledge to give you the best chance of seeing the Northern Lights, sightings cannot be guaranteed because they depend on nature. Sometimes, the aurora is too faint to be seen clearly with the naked eye but can still be captured with special camera settings — your guide will help you take beautiful photos even in low activity. Many tours boast up to a 95% success rate, but patience and clear skies are key!
Rovaniemi experiences very cold winters, with temperatures typically ranging between -15°C and -30°C (–5°F to –22°F). Dressing in multiple warm layers is crucial to stay comfortable while spending time outdoors for Northern Lights viewing.
This tour is for adventurous travelers who don’t mind long drives, waiting in the cold, and being flexible to chase the best skies — because seeing the aurora sometimes takes time and effort.
